Power-of-two policies for single-warehouse multi-retailer inventory systems with order frequency discounts

چکیده
– All-unit order frequency discount • 94%-effective policy for a variable base period – Incremental order frequency discount • 94%-effective policy for a fixed base period • 98%-effective policy for a variable base period Introduction • A supply chain is a network of facilities that procure raw materials, transform them into intermediate goods and then final products, and deliver the products to customers through a distribution system. • Multiechelon inventory systems are used to manage the inventories of a supply chain, which spans procurement, manufacturing, and distribution. • Key objectives of a supply chain are to minimize the cost associated with the entire multiechelon inventory system as well as to win the competitive battle in bringing the product to the customers as promptly as possible. • Assumptions: – The assumptions of the basic EOQ model hold at installation 2, where d = constant demand rate, Q 2 = order quantity provided by installation 1 when the inventory level drops to zero. – At installation 1, Q 1 = order quantity provided by supplier placed in time to replenish the inventory at installation 1when the inventory level is zero. – Relevant costs at installations 1 and 2: K i = setup cost, h (i) = unit holding cost, i = 1 , 2. – Units increase in value from installation 1 to installation 2. So, h (1) < h (2). – Lead times are assumed to be zero (or constant). Time Inventory level at Installation 1 Inventory level at Installation 2 4 Q 1 2 Q 2-2 0 2 4 6 8 Time 2 4 6 8 10 10 12 2 Synchronized inventory levels (Q 1 = 3 Q 2) Time Echelon inventory (system inventory), item 1 Inventory level at Installation 1 Inventory level at Installation 2 – Orders placed only when inventory is zero. • Stationary – Constant order intervals and order quantities. • Define h 1 = h (1) : echelon unit holding cost for installation 1, h 2 = h (2) – h (1) : echelon unit holding cost for installation 2.

Two-warehouse system for non-instantaneous deterioration products with promotional effort and inflation over a finite time horizon
In the current global market, organizations use many promotional tools to increase their sales. One such tool is sales teams’ initiatives or promotional policies, i.e., free gifts, discounts, packaging, etc. This phenomenon motivates the retailer/or buyer to order a large inventory lot so as to take full benefit of promotional policies. In view of this the present paper considers a two-warehous...
متن کاملVendor Managed Inventory of a Single-vendor Multiple-retailer Single-warehouse Supply Chain under Stochastic Demands
In this study, a vendor-managed inventory model is developed for a single-vendor multiple-retailer single-warehouse (SV-MR-SV) supply chain problem based on the economic order quantity in which demands are stochastic and follow a uniform probability distribution. In order to reduce holding costs and to help balanced on-hand inventory cost between the vendor and the retailers, it is assumed that...
متن کاملEstimation of the cost function of a two-echelon inventory system with lost sales using regression
Multi-echelon inventory systems are one of the most important and attractive areas in modelling supply chain management so that several researches and studies have been done about. In this paper, the total cost function of a two-echelon inventory system with central warehouse and many identical retailers controlled by continuous review inventory policy is estimated. We have assumed the demand i...
متن کاملA parameter-tuned genetic algorithm for vendor managed inventory model for a case single-vendor single-retailer with multi-product and multi-constraint
This paper develops a single-vendor single-retailer supply chain for multi-product. The proposed model is based on Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) approach and vendor uses the retailer's data for better decision making. Number of orders and available capital are the constraints of the model. In this system, shortages are backordered; therefore, the vendor’s warehouse capacity is another limitati...
متن کاملOptimal (R, Q) policy and pricing for two-echelon supply chain with lead time and retailer’s service-level incomplete information
Many studies focus on inventory systems to analyze different real-world situations. This paper considers a two-echelon supply chain that includes one warehouse and one retailer with stochastic demand and an up-to-level policy. The retailer’s lead time includes the transportation time from the warehouse to the retailer that is unknown to the retailer. On the other hand, the warehouse is unaware ...
